Abstract

Potentially Inappropriate prescribing (PIP) is defined as the use of drugs and the potential hazards that may be greater than the benefits. PIP is common in geriatric patients requiring identification of PIP to improve the quality of prescribing. So it needs special keriteri to distinguish between acceptable drug geriatric patients. STOPP criteria including drugs that should be avoided in geriatrics, which increases the risk of falls, drug interaction, and duplications of therapy. This study aims to determine the relationship of the treatment duration, and the quantity of drugs with PIP. The method used is a retrospective cross-sectional study, the data obtained do Kolmogorov Smirnov normality test and advanced test that is Spearman test, for the treatment duration and the quantity of the drug, with a total of 80 patients with ischemic stroke patients the period from June to December 2017. Results from the study showed that the treatment duration with PIP no relationship with significance of 0.838 (> 0.05). The correlation of the quantity of drugs with PIP indicate a relationship, with significance of 0,001 (<0,05). Keywords : Potentially inappropriate prescribing, PIP, Criteria STOPP, Stroke Ischemic.
