Abstract

Diabetes mellitus is a metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia that occurs due to defects in insulin secretion, insulin action or both. Indonesia ranks 7th with the highest number of adult diabetics in the world. Treatment of patients with diabetes mellitus is quite expensive and requires a long treatment time because treatment is life long. This study was conducted to compare the cost-effectiveness of using insulin antidiabetic combination therapy. The method used is an observational study with a cross-sectional research design with data collection using a retrospective approach through tracing the patient's medical records. The data used include sociodemographic data and the total cost of therapy and other health facilities. 33 patients received combination insulin therapy. The age of the patients ranged from 20 - 65 years. The effectiveness of therapy was measured based on fasting blood glucose (GDP) and Length of Stay (LOS). Statistical analysis was performed using the Kruskal Wallis test. The results showed that the combination therapy with antidiabetic insulin levemir® - novorapid® with the lowest ACER value based on fasting blood glucose (GDP) was Rp. 105,275 and based on the Length of Stay (LOS) of Rp. 1,214,710. ICER value based on fasting blood glucose (GDP) Rp. -337,051 and the ICER value based on Length of Stay (LOS) is Rp. -1,853,781. The conclusion of this study is that levemir® - novorapid® is more cost effective than other antidiabetic combination therapy.
