Abstract

Stroke is a blocked cerebral blood flow that suddenly appears, progessive, and rapidly due to non-traumatic cerebral vascular injury. Stroke is an emergency so the process of selecting drugs, dosing, and monitoring should be appropriate to avoid drug related problems. A drug related problems (DRPs) is an event or circumstance involving drug therapy that actually or potentially interferes with desired health outcomes. This study were aim to identify demographic characteristics, frequency, and percentage of DRPs in ischemic stroke patients at Mardi Waluyo General Hospital, Blitar City in 2019. This study was descriptive observational study using medical records. Data that collected from medical records, analyzed then categorized according to problems and causes categories of Pharmaceutical Care Network Europe Association V 9.0. Result of study revealed that the majority of ischemic stroke patients were women (56,9%). Most of the patients in this study were >65 years old (46,2%). Whereas most of ischemic stroke patients had hypertension (45,4%) as comorbity. Analysis of DRPs problems category showed that effect of drug treatment is not optimal (P1.2) was the most common problem (1,179 incidents; 76%). No or incomplete drug treatment in spite of existing indication (C1.6) was most causes (528 incidents; 28,5%). Data show that the highest percentage of DRP is drug treatment is not optimal.
