Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical country with various types of plants for example is Durio zibethinus Murr. Zibethinus folium are used as antibacterial. The objective of this research was to know antibacterial activity of Zibethinus folium maserate fraction, to determine optimum fraction was inhibiting Staphylococcus aureus and to know stability in storage and antibacterial activity from gel of optimum fraction. The extraction was performed by maseration method and the separation of the compound was carried out by fractionation based on the polarity level using aqua distillate, n-hexane and ethyl acetate. The antibacterial activity test was performed using disc diffusion method at each fraction with concentration series of 15%, 30% and 60%. Data were tested statistically using ANOVA and continued by Two-Sample T-Test. The inhibitory zone diameters of the aqua distillate, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate fractions at a consecutive 60% concentration were 12.50; 10.33 and 10.83 (mm). The result shows that the optimum fraction is found in the aqua distillate fraction with a concentration of 60%. The results of the gel test of aqua distillate fraction showed that the odor is typical, semi solid, colorless, transparent, good homogeneity, pH 5, 4.87 cm, 4.37 seconds, but unstable in storage because no protection. The aqua distillate fraction gel proved to have antibacterial activity as Staphylococcus aureus with a drag zone diameter of 13.67mm.
