Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the antibacterial activity of the leaf extract of binahong to Staphylococcus aureus bacteria and the level of stability of the binahong leaf extract on the basis of Na CMC, knowing the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) gel of binahong leaf to Staphylococcus bacteria aureus. The research method used is Experimental. Samples were extracted by maceration method using ethanol solvent 70%. Leaf extract of binahong with optimum concentration is made in gel form, while gelling agent used is CMC Na. The gel evaluation includes organoleptic, ph, homogeneity, dispersion, adhesion, protection. Data analysis using One Way Anova method. The results of the antibacterial activity of 25%, 40%, 55%, 70% yield of KHM, respectively, yielded KHM sequentially at 10.1mm, 11.3mm, 12.1mm, 14mm and KBM showed turbidity affected by extract color so that it could not be known power kill. 30% leaf binary gum preparation gel has 30% antibacterial activity against Staphylococus aureus and gel evaluation of gel in gel-based organoleptic, typical of leaves of binahong, brownish black has 5.5 ph, homogeneous, no protection, 5.8 cm, the stickiness of 0.76 seconds.
