Abstract

Durian leaf (Durio Zibethinus Murr) is part of plants that have antibacterial activity. The aim of this research is to know the antibacterial activity of Zybethinus folium fraction and antibacterial activity of the best fraction gel from Zerbethinus folium macerate to Escherichia coli using agar diffusion method. The leaf sample was extracted using maseration method with 70% ethanol solvent and purified by fractionation method using aqua distillate, n-hexane, and ethyl acetate solvent. The gel preparation is prepared from the best fraction of Zibethinus folium. The evaluation of the preparation includes organoleptic tests, pH, homogeneity, dispersion, adhesion, and protection. Statistical analysis was performed with One-Way Anova and Two-Sample T-Test. The result testing of antibacterial activity of aqua distillate fraction and ethyl acetate fraction of maserate Zybethinus folium showed antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli, while n-hexane fraction of maserate Zybethinus folium showed no antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli. The distillation of distilled aqua distillata fraction of 40% showed the best resistance with zone of inhibition 8.33±0,76 mm. The 5% aqua distillate gel of the Zybethinus folium maserate has antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli with an zone of inhibitory 9.83±0,76 mm and is not stable during storage.
