Abstract
Hypertension is one of the major causes of mortality and morbidity in both developing and developed countries. Hypertensive disease is included in the category of disease with a high prevalence (incidence) and as the main cause of death in patients. As the case of hypertension increases, drug use studies need to be done to ensure the rational use of drugs and the success of the therapy taken by patients. This study aims to determine the profile of antihypertensive use and the appropriateness of drug use with PERKI guidelines and JNC 8 therapeutic guideline. This research uses secondary data, that was taken from patient medical record. This research is a descriptive categorical research with prospective data collection. Data on the use of antihypertensives of out-patient were obtained from Medical Record Installation. All data then processed to determine the profile of drug use and the suitability of drug use. The population in this study amounted to 450 patients. The number of samples taken by simple random sampling is 96 respondents.The results of the study showed the most widely used antihypertensives in hypertension patients by category out-patient period of January till March 2018 was amlodipine 34.4%. The suitability of the use of antihypertensive drugs, according the PERKI guidelines, is 86% appropriate, and based on JNC8 therapy guidelines are appropriate except for CVA and CKD cases.
