Abstract

Off-label is defined as the use of drugs that do not match what is stated in the product information, which has a summary of relevant scientific information about safe and efficient use of registered drugs. The use of off-label drugs is categorized as incorrect dosage, age, indication, contraindication and administration route. The method used in this study is a cross-sectional method retrospectively on medical records of pediatric patients in RSUD Dr. Iskak in Tulungagung from January to March 2018. Data are grouped according to the off-label category, chi-square statistical analysis is performed to see the relationship of patient profiles (sex, age, diagnosis, length of treatment, number of drug) to off-label events. Based on the research there were 83 prescriptions that met the inclusion criteria. The total drug use of 83 prescriptions is 568 drugs with 69 types of drugs. The number of prescriptions which included the off-label category was 66 prescriptions. Off-label indications are 44 (7.75%), age off labels are 54 (9.5%), off-label route administration are 16 (2.28%), and there ware no off-label doses and contraindications. Chi-square statistical analysis that fulfills the value (p-value> 0.10), namely age (p-value 0.027) and diagnosis (p- value 0.013), which means there is a relationship with the off-label event. While gender, length of treatment and number of drugs there is no relationship to the off-label event. Keywords: Off-label, pediatrics, RSUD Dr. Iskak Tulungagung
