Abstract

Kapok leaves contain many substances including saponins, alkaloids, flavonoids, terpenoids, and tannins. The content of flavonoids in kapok leaves can be used for antioxidants, antibacterial, and antiviral. These effects make the reason that plants containing flavonoids can be used as medicinal ingredients. This study aims to determine the antibacterial activity of kapok leaf extract as an agent against S. aureu bacteria and the maximum concentration of kapok leaf fraction as an antibacterial against S. aureus bacteria. This study uses maceration extraction, because maceration is the simplest method when compared to other methods, viewed from the simple process, the tools used are easy to find and do not require special equipment. Antibacterial testing uses kapok leaf extract concentration with a concentration of 30%, 40%, and 50%. The advantage of the disk or disk diffusion method is that it can be tested more in one activity and does not require much effort. The disk diffusion method is used to find out the optimum concentration that can kill S.aureus bacteria through variations in concentration Kata kunci: Daun kapuk randu, Ekstraksi, Bakteri S.aureus
