Abstract

Aging is a natural process that leads to loss of structural integrity and physiological function of the skin caused by free radicals in the tissue that can eliminate elasticity, so that the skin becomes dry, sagging, lacks elasticity and wrinkles. Antioxidants are one of the compounds that neutralize and reduce free radicals, thereby reducing cell damage, such as premature aging. VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) can be used as an antioxidant and can overcome premature aging. This study aims to determine the differences in the physical stability of VCO cream preparations with the ethoxylate stearyl alcohol emulgator and VCO cream with the Gumosus Arabicum Pulvis emulgator. Cream formulations were made in 5 formulations (2 blank formulations, 3 dosage formulations) with variations in emulgator concentration of 1.5%, 2%, 2.5% for stearyl alcohol ethoxylate emulgators and 15%, 20%, 25% for Gumosus Arabicum Pulvis emulgator. The physical stability testing of cream preparations included organoleptic examination, homogeneity, pH, adhesion, dispersion, protection and viscosity for 4 weeks. From the results of the study it was found that all cream preparations were on average homogeneous, possessed a pH of 5, adherence and spreadability according to the range, good viscosity, had protective power and were stable in 4 weeks storage. In conclusion, VCO (Virgin Coconut Oil) formulated in cream preparations with Pulos Gumosus Arabicum and ethoxylate alcohol ethylylate emulgators has good physical stability during testing with VCO cream preparations which have the best physical stability in F1 VCO cream with Gumosus Arabicum Pulvis emulgator concentration of 15% .
