Abstract

Vitamin C serves as an antioxidant and ward off free radicals that can damage cells. The source of Vitamin C is fruits and vegetables such as garlic. Garlic can be used as an alternative therapy by the community in the form of powder capsules in various brands. This research aims to determine the comparison of vitamin C levels in five brands of garlic powder capsules. The methods used in this study are UV-Vis spectrophotometry and method validation such as Linierity test, precision test, accuracy test, and LOD and LOQ test. Based on the results of the study obtained the wavelength of Vitamin C of 247nm and obtained the results of interference linearity in the concentration range of 5ppm, 10ppm, 15ppm, 20ppm, 25ppm with a correlation coefficient value of 0.966, limit detection of 0, 160ppm and the quantitation limit of 0, 365ppm. The accuracy of this method is determined by the result of reacquisition using the standard Spike method, while the precision is measured by calculating relative default deviation. Sample rate of vitamin C in 1, 755ppm, sample 2 of 1, 444ppm, sample 3 of 1, 231PPM, sample 4 of 1, 134ppm, sample 5 of 0, 853ppm. The results concluded that the analysis in determination of vitamin C rate in garlic powder capsules with spectrophotometer UV-Vis There is a meaningful difference from vitamin C level in five brands of garlic powder capsules that use SPSS16 statistical analysis with Kruskal's method of obtaining the value P = 0.009.
