Abstract
The methanolic extract of jengkol fruit jengkol (Archidendron pauciflorum (Benth.) Nielsen) is known to contain active compounds of alkaloids, flavonoids, and saponins which have antioxidant activity. The antioxidant effect on jengkol peel extract can be formulated in topical dosage forms, one of which is peel off mask preparation, the physical stability of peel off mask preparation is influenced by additional ingredients used including propylene glycol as humectant and PVA as filling agent. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of propylene glycol as a humectant and PVA as a filming agent on the physical stability of the peel off mask of jengkol peel extract. To determine the effect of variations in the concentration of propylene glycol and PVA used variations in the concentration of propylene glycol: PVA, 10%: 10%, 13%: 11%, 16%: 12% and 19%: 13%, each formulation was evaluated for physical stability including organoleptic tests, pH test, homogeneity test, adhesion test, spreadability test, drying time test, humidity test and viscosity test for 28 days. The results of the evaluation were then carried out statistical analysis tests. The results showed that variations in the concentration of PVA and propylene glycol significantly affected the physical stability of the preparation such as adhesion, dispersibility, drying time and humidity (p<0.05), variations in the concentration of PVA and propylene glycol there was no significant difference in viscosity. because (p>0.05).
