Abstract
Complementary foods for breast milk are given to babies who are more than 6 months old because at that time the digestive organs in babies are ready to digest food other than breast milk and there is an increase in nutritional needs in infants but inversely proportional to the decreasing milk production. There are two types of complementary feeding, namely traditional and modern. Higiene in a product really needs to be considered, especially for food given to babies. Contamination in food is not desired in food that may come from the environment or the food production process. The type of contamination can be in the form of chemical contamination and biological contamination. The most common biological contaminants are caused by anaerobic bacteria, such as Coliform, E.coli, Salmonella, etc. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of conformity of Escherichia coli bacterial contamination in-home industry baby porridge circulating in Tulungagung district with SNI. The methods used to examine bacterial contamination in baby porridge are ALT and MPN. The ALT method was used to determine the number of bacterial colonies in a sample and the results obtained that all of them did not meet the SNI standard of 1 x 102 colonies/gram. While the MPN method is used to determine the number of bacterial ranges contained in the sample with the formation of gas produced by bacteria. In the MPN method, more specific information is obtained regarding the bacteria, namely Escherichia coli based on a confirmation test. The results of the MPN method are only 8 samples that match the Indonesian National Standard of <3.0 MPN/gram (negative). Keywords: Baby Porridge, Escherichia coli, Higiene, ALT, MPN
