Abstract
Infancy is a golden period as well as a critical period in infant development. In the period of growth and development, parents need to pay attention to the food intake that will be given. Babies are only given exclusive breastfeeding at the age of under 6 months and after more than 6 months babies can be given complementary foods to complement breast milk or MP-ASI. One form of MP-ASI that is often found in the market is baby pudding. Many home industry baby puddings are sold in Tulungagung Regency. This home industry baby pudding has a faster expiration time than instant baby pudding, because the home industry baby pudding is sold in processed form and sold on the roadside, allowing for bacterial contamination in the baby pudding. One of the bacteria that often contaminates food is Eschericia Coli bacteria which if there are too many can cause diarrhea. The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was Eschericia Coli bacterial contamination in the home industry baby pudding in Tulungagung Regency using the ALT and MPN methods in accordance with the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). The home industry baby pudding samples studied were taken from 10 different outlets. Based on the ALT method, all samples indicated contamination of Eschericia Coli bacteria which was above the SNI standard of 1x102. Likewise, in the MPN method, out of 10 samples, only 1 sample conforms to the SNI standard, which is negative/gram. However, until now there have been no cases of diarrhea in infants due to consuming home industry baby pudding in Tulungagung Regency Keywords: baby pudding, ALT, MPN, hygiene
